Course description

This course aims to develop the students understanding of key concepts and frameworks such as corporate citizenship, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, social license to operate, stakeholder engagement and participation, ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance of organizations), sustainability and sustainable development. The course reviews the evolution and development of the idea of individual, institutional and societal responsibility, which is now a key part of managing business, as well as NGOs or political and educational institutions. Issues covered include business ethics and human rights, public private partnerships, corporate philanthropy, but focuses on how organizations account for their behaviour and how (much) CSR and sustainable behaviour is facilitated through and manifested in communication, i.e. reporting and communication management.
