Hold an approved degree in dentistry from UQ (or equivalent) with a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience and be registered as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia.Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.The minimum GPA to be considered for admission into this program is 4.0. The GPA cut-off for those offered a place in 2021 was 4.77.Please see 'Additional application information' for further details on entry requirements.

Why study the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry?
UQ's Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a three year full-time Level 9 extended Masters (Australian Qualifications Framework) leading to a registrable specialist qualification. You will experience:
- Interdisciplinary learning and undertake patient care at the state-of-the-art Oral Health Centre with the most modern equipment, technologies and teaching methods.
- Collegial support and interaction with specialists from the first week of your first year of study.
- Research focus over all three years of the program.
What you can study
You will undertake a field of study related to your chosen specialty under the guidance of a supervisor which includes a component in basic and clinical sciences, a major clinical component in the nominated specialty, and a research project and report.

Doctor of Clinical Dentistry
Placement courses
You will undertake extensive supervised clinical practice in a range of dental clinics in hospitals, external healthcare facilities and the Oral Health Centre (OHC) located at Herston.
Placements will commence in first semester of the program. Actual timing of the placement may vary depending on area of speciality.

Additional application requirements
Applications submitted on or before 14 April 2021 will be assessed and considered for entry in Semester 1, 2022.
Applications for entry in 2022 are being assessed in the specialities of Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, and Special Needs Dentistry.
Limited places are available in each discipline and entry is determined using a competitive selection process based on academic records, other postgraduate qualifications, work and research experience since graduation, commitment to the discipline and referee reports.
A late second round for selection may be considered if places are not filled or if other disciplines become available.

Clinical Assessment Program
Shortlisted applicants must undertake a Clinical Assessment Program at the School of Dentistry. Applicants will be responsible for all travel and accommodation costs incurred in undertaking the assessment in Brisbane.
Prior to applying, applicants should ensure they will be able to meet placement requirements outlined on this website.
For applicants who need to provide evidence of English proficiency, please note that a higher level of English language proficiency than the UQ minimum is required. Please note that if you are an overseas trained dentist and/or from a non-English speaking background, you will need to provide evidence satisfying English Language Proficiency requirements.

To complete the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry
To graduate with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
