Why study the Master of Social Work?

There will be no admission to the Master of Social Work program in 2014 or 2015.

The Master of Social Work provides social work practitioners with the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional practice in core social work fields and methods. It allows students the opportunity for in-depth study in fields of interpersonal helping, child and family practice, community practice, and leadership and organisational practice. The courses offer a theoretical and practice base for advanced professional practice and leadership in social work services.

What you can do with a Master of Social Work

Careers

Graduates have the opportunity to develop practice, research, leadership and management skills that will make them more competitive in areas of advanced practice and management roles. Graduates are employed in a wide range of government and non government organisations as direct practitioners, managers, researchers and policy practitioners. Some graduates use this qualification as a basis for entering private practice.

To complete the Master of Social Work

To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Social Work, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

#24 from the MSocWk list comprising

  • #6 from Part A
  • and the remainder from Part B or a specialisation.
    #8 units is the minimum required to declare a specialisation.
