This program equips students with the theoretical knowledge, skills and professional attributes necessary to become a PA. The program provides broad, generalised medical training with an emphasis on primary care, health maintenance and disease prevention. The curriculum includes the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis and therapeutic management of patients with diseases, particularly those more commonly seen in general practice. Students develop interviewing and physical examination skills, and also study the fundamentals of health care delivery.

At the core of the physician assistant profession is a team approach to patient care. With this approach a PA is able to provide continuity of care, increase provider accessibility and improve quality of life for both patients and practitioners to better meet the long-term needs of the community.

To complete the Master of Physician Assistant Studies
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
The total units and other specific requirements a student needs to take in order to receive this award. Program requirements should be read in conjunction with the Program rules and General Award Rules. A student is required to obtain #24 units from the MPhysAsstSt program list.
