(i) for the #16 program, hold a degree equivalent to a 4 year degree in agriculture or related science field ; or
(ii) for the #24 program, hold an approved degree.

Some courses are also offered in external mode, allowing students to complete the programs in external mode. Courses offered in the external mode may have residential school requirements. It is an expectation that students will have private access to a computer and the internet.

An internal student attends lectures, tutorials and practicals on campus. An external student receives instruction by mail, or via the internet.

Why study the Master of Plant Protection?

The plant protection program develops core disciplinary knowledge and skills in plant protection, emphasising tropical and subtropical aspects of the field. Compulsory courses cover plant pathology, entomology, weed science and the integration of these disciplines. Students may focus their studies in one of the following areas: tropical pest management; agricultural entomology; plant pathology; or weed sciences. Graduates possess an understanding of key principles and their application in professional practice; relevant communication and problem-solving skills; and the ability to undertake research in plant protection.

To complete the Master of Plant Protection

To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Plant Protection, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

#16 from the MPlantProt list comprising #10 from part A including a graduate research project; and #6 from a combination of courses from part A or part B or both.
