A student must hold the GDipMusmSt, or a degree in any field, and demonstrate suitability for admission; and provide a one A4 page personal statement of the reason for applying for museum studies.
Additional application information
Students are able to participate in an elective course which involves a Museum Studies Field School. This course provides first-hand experience about museums of all types and their location in a rapidly globalizing world. Located in Vietnam, students will focus on documented case studies that will consider the challenges of conservation, governance and development frameworks that have become imperative in the contemporary world. It provides a unique opportunity to engage practically with contemporary issues in museums in an international context, developing skills in cross-cultural communication & museum practice.

Why study the Master of Museum Studies?
This suite of programs provides specialist training and professional qualifications for graduates who are currently working or seeking to work in the museum industry nationally and internationally. The courses within the suite build student capacity to understand and evaluate museum theory and practice, and critically engage with the issues facing those working in museums, art museums and related heritage and collecting institutions. The involvement of the campus based museums and collections, together with input from museum industry professionals, enhances student knowledge of contemporary work practices. Students are encouraged to develop skills and expertise in particular areas of interest and work with industry partners on collaborative practice led research projects.

To complete the Master of Museum Studies
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Museum Studies, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
