Approved degree or equivalent in any discipline; or

Have completed post-secondary study approved by the executive dean.

Additional application information

Please note that applicants who do not have a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in the same discipline require a total of 32 units to complete the Master program requirements - i.e., 24 units for the Master program, plus 8 units for the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. Students may be eligible for entry to the 24 units Master of Communication program if they have completed the Graduate Certificate in Communication (without credit to the Master program) or the Graduate Diploma in Communication (maximum of 8 units credit towards the Master program) if they have met the GPA requirement.

Why study the Graduate Certificate in Communication?

This program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the ever-expanding communication industries. The program is designed to enhance the skills of existing communication graduates and professionals. Courses are designed to increase understanding of the application of communication theory and research to health promotion, business, public relations, policy and politics, intercultural relations and globalisation. Students develop knowledge of communication dynamics, as well as practical professional skills.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to semester course offerings, it may not be possible to complete a field in the Graduate Certificate full-time in one semester.

Program rules for the Graduate Certificate in Communication

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Communication

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Communication, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain 8 units from the MCommun List comprising:

  • 4 units from Part B; and
  • the balance (4 units) from courses in Parts A, B, C and/or D
