Approved degree in the same discipline or equivalent; or

GCMus.

Same discipline in music may include studies in performance, composition, musicology, or music education. For the field of music education, a degree qualifying a person to become a classroom music teacher satisfies the requirement.

Additional application information

The field of instrumental pedagogy cannot be studied full time and is therefore not available to international students. Students cannot commence the program in the field of instrumental pedagogy in second semester.

Why study the Graduate Diploma in Music?

This program provides students with music and music education research skills and knowledge designed to meet the professional development needs of those working in school-based music education, independent studio music education, or community music education. Students complete one core course and select elective courses according to their interests. Graduates of the program will demonstrate knowledge and application of the principles of music pedagogy in a range of educational or community settings.

Program rules for the Graduate Diploma in Music

To complete the Graduate Diploma in Music

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Music, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #16 from the MMus List.
