a bachelor degree (or equivalent). Study in fields such as health, humanities, education, social, physical or biological sciences is recommended.
Entry is competitive based on GPA, with a limited intake capacity. You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. The GPA cut-off for those offered a place in 2023 was: 4.25.

What you can study
This program is conducted full-time over 2 years (4 semesters), beginning in February (semester 1) of each year. Students are guided through the foundational and advanced theoretical aspects of audiology closely integrated with practical clinical skills, and gain the ability to contribute to the development of clinical audiology through research.

Placement courses
Students undertake over 250 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings that includes hospitals, private practices, educational facilities and UQ's internal clinics. During their placements, students will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework and research to practice and develop their clinical skills in real life settings.Clinical placements commence in semester one of the program, and students will be allocated a placement during university breaks.Students will be required to undertake clinical placements outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area and students are required to fund their travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.Prior to applying, applicants should ensure they will be able to meet placement requirements outlined on this website.
Research component
The program incorporates advanced training in clinical reasoning and independent research. Students opt to undertake an individual or group research project in their final year.

Additional costs
- Annual CPR re-certification (approximately $80 per year)
- Students are expected to fund travel and living expenses associated with placements, some of which may be outside the Brisbane metropolitan area.
- First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approximately $130 renewed every 3 years)
- A clinical uniform shirt is required and may be purchased through the School.
- Costs for vaccinations and serology are the responsibility of the student and will vary based on individual and program requirements.

To complete the Master of Audiology Studies
To graduate with a Master of Audiology Studies a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
