Nutrition Sciences Sports Coaching Sporting Cultures Placement course HMST3103 Nutrition, Sport and Physical Activity Management - Industry Placement has been developed to provide final year Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences students with hands-on experience in a related work environment. The placement uses the student's accumulated knowledge and skill base and prepares them for future employment within areas of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences. The placement delivers important vocational skills and provides students with complementary workplace-based experiences. Students may be required to hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check). This is dependent on the requirements of their placement provider.

Placement courses

You will have the option to undertake up to 50 hours of supervised placements in a range of industries relevant to nutrition, physical activity and/or exercise. You will have the opportunity during your placements to apply your theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework to practice and develop your skills in an industry setting.

You will commence your placements in the third (final) year of the program.

This program has pre-placement requirements which must be met prior to commencement of the program or a placement course. Prior to applying, applicants should ensure they will be able to meet the placement requirements.

What you can do with a Bachelor of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences

Careers

Graduates use their skills to work in roles such as nutrition assistant, fitness or weight loss consultant, or research assistant. Many graduates combine a Bachelor of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences with a postgraduate qualification to specialise in a variety of clinical and non-clinical careers. Clinical careers after postgraduate study include dietitian, medical practitioner, clinical exercise physiologist, audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist or speech pathologist. Non-clinical careers after postgraduate study include sports scientist, sports coach, health promotion officer, community health officer, sport & recreation manager or public health manager. Completion of an Honours year and a PhD may lead to an academic career in the university sector.

To graduate with a Bachelor of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean.
