In Semester 2, the Bachelor of Marine Studies (Honours) year commences at the start of the standard academic calendar (e.g., end of July).

Why study the Bachelor of Marine Studies?
The Bachelor of Marine Studies is no longer available for enrolment. Students interested in Marine Science should consider the Bachelor of Science Marine Science major.
This program integrates the study of a range of disciplines relevant to understanding, researching and managing the marine environment. Students benefit from the University's breadth and depth of expertise in aquaculture and marine biotechnology, coastal management, marine biology and ecology, marine geology and coastal processes.
UQ's extensive marine science infrastructure includes field stations on the Great Barrier Reef (Heron Island), Low Isles and Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay. Students also benefit from the University's regular involvement in scientific research into coral reef ecology and geology, marine botany and marine biotechnology.
Note: Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Marine Studies prior to 2008 should refer to the 2007 program list.

Program rules for the Bachelor of Marine Studies
To complete the Bachelor of Marine Studies
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Marine Studies, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #64 from the BMarSt List comprising -
- #48 from Part A in the chosen field of study, including all compulsory courses plus at least #12 for late year courses; and
- #16 from Part H.
