BEcon or hold an approved degree; and satisfy the executive dean and head of school that the student is suitably qualified to undertake honours.

Additional application information

Entry into the Honours program is at the discretion of the Executive Dean and Head of School. To enrol for Honours, a student must complete the Bachelor of Economics program requirements, or hold an equivalent approved degree, and:

  • if the chosen field is Econometrics, have passed 12 units, and obtained a grade of 5 or higher in each of ECON2050, ECON3010, ECON3020, ECON3320, ECON3330, ECON3350 or ECON3360 and satisfy the executive dean and head of school that the student is suitably qualified to undertake honours.

  • if the chosen field is Economics, have passed 8 units, and obtained a grade of 5 or higher in each of ECON2050, ECON3010, ECON3020 and ECON3350 or ECON3360 and satisfy the executive dean and head of school that the student is suitably qualified to undertake honours.

Program rules for the Bachelor of Economics (Honours)

To complete the Bachelor of Economics (Honours)

To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Economics (Honours), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #16 from one major in Part H of the BEcon List. Refer to the BEcon rules for further information.

With Head of School approval, a student may include as electives #2 of level 6 or level 7 ACCT, FINM, IBUS, INFS, MGTS, MKTG, ORGC, TIMS or ECON courses.

Class of Honours is determined, according to the methods for awarding postgraduate Honours provided in the General Award Rules (GARs 2.4.4) and Policy and Procedures Library (PPL 3.50.12, Section 5.4 of Procedures), based on the weighted percentage for the program and standard percentage cut-offs.
