Why study the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Honours)?

The Honours program emphasises independent scholarship and research through the preparation of a written thesis. It provides excellent research training (theory and research design, data collection, data analysis and writing skills) and allows a high level of involvement in the School of Education postgraduate research culture.

What you can do with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Honours)

Careers

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) prepares students for employment as teachers or educational administrators. It also provides the possibility of progressing more quickly than otherwise towards the PhD degree.

To complete the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Honours)

To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Honours), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #16 from part H of the BEd(Sec) list comprising:

  • #2 for a research methods course;
  • #6 from the MEdSt list; and
  • #8 for a thesis course.
