Why study Advanced Practice Nursing?

The Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Advanced Practice Nursing) will assist the student to apply an advanced level of knowledge and skills in clinical health assessment; effectively identify the needs of the individual/family and formulate comprehensive health assessments relevant to their area of specialty nursing practice.

The student will also acquire a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and philosophical models and foundations of nursing practice. This will assist the student to formulate plans of care for individuals/families within their area of specialty practice that are constructed using theoretical principles and evidence based research findings. Concepts such as critical thinking, reflective practice and other related concepts and how they inform nursing practice are also examined. Opportunity also exists for students to undertake an elective subject in an area that will enhance their knowledge and skills in speciality practice or fulfil a professional interest.
