Why study Population and Place?

Examine the complexities that underpin how human societies interact with their physical and natural environments. Study the evolution of human settlements and cities across the world to learn how social, cultural, and economic factors influence how human populations interact with each other and the locations and places within their environment. Develop skills in the analysis of conventional (e.g. census) and emerging data sets (e.g. social media and real-time feeds) to understand human-environment interactions. Gain a strong theoretical understanding of the processes that shape populations and cities in the 21st Century.
