This major is designed to provide you with a broad background in the culture of Muslim societies in various parts of the Islamic world, and how the Islamic world and the West interact. Particular emphasis is placed on the history, religion, law and literature of Islamic civilisations, as well as contemporary issues such as nationalism, tolerance and ethnic conflict, and modern social movements.
