Why study Food Technology?

Food Technology is a combination of the basic chemical and biological sciences and their application to the quality, safety, nutritive value, processing, and storage of food. It is firmly based in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology and biometry, and is the science underpinning the food industry, the largest manufacturing industry in Australia. Research honours students will have the opportunity to delve deeply into a particular aspect of their chosen food and/or its manufacturing process.

Students complete either a research focused or industry focused project. For further information on this plan and projects available, contact the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
