Why study Communication, Media and Culture?

The Communication, Media and Culture major combines the study of basic language and communication with the study of contemporary culture and everyday life concentrating on examples of communicative processes in interpersonal, intercultural and institutional contexts, and on the forms and meanings of popular culture. Students consider a range of everyday situations and interactions, and analyse popular cultural texts including television, radio, internet and print sources as well as the cultural identities, spaces and practices associated with these. The programme emphasizes critical and analytic skills and encourages students to develop these alongside general skills of communication.
