Why study Clinical Epidemiology?
This field of study is designed to provide a systematic introduction both to the foundation sciences of clinical epidemiology (epidemiology and biostatistics) and to the structure and operation of the health system, all of which are topics that are much neglected in the basic training of clinical health professionals. Having mastered this material, there is a choice of courses addressing knowledge and skills specifically in clinical epidemiology, together with a range of electives concerned with major health conditions and aspects of the management of individual patients as well as larger components of the health system.
All fields of study are a mixture of internal and external delivery. All core courses are offered internally and externally. If a student wishes to complete the program either entirely by internal or external delivery the choice of courses is more limited.
International students may not undertake the program (except the 'Standard' field of study from Semester 1 2008) on campus at UQ on a full-time basis: they may only study from their home countries and will not be eligible for an Australian study visa.
Summer Semester entry not available for international students.
