Why study Ancient Greek?

One of the fascinating ways to explore ancient Mediterranean civilisations is to learn the original languages in which important works of literature, history, drama, philosophy, medicine, and law were composed. Ancient Greek enables students to develop and/or extend their reading skills one of the oldest languages in the world. Ancient Greek is important for the study not only of the Greco-Roman world, but also of the languages, ideas, and literature of pre-modern and modern societies, especially those of Europe, the UK, USA, and Australia. The Ancient Greek major accommodates beginner learners, enabling students to develop reading skills while mastering vocab and grammatical concepts. Advanced courses focus on the development of advanced reading skills. The Ancient Greek major enhances studies in ancient history, history, archaeology, philosophy, politics, law, music, science, medicine, and modern languages. This makes it ideal for dual degree students studying law, sciences, politics, and languages.
