Course description

This course comprises two options to enable students to integrate core knowledge and skills in clinical epidemiology and develop a greater understanding of the context in which these disciplines are applied to health. The options are as follows: (a) From time to time, and as such projects become available, electives may be offered to postgraduate students in the Master of Clinical Epidemiology program to assist in special research projects on methodologic aspects of Clinical Epidemiology. In this elective, the student would assist in a project that would lead to a short but intensive study of a special methodology eg meta-analysis. This elective project may not lead to a published work but by assisting on the project would enhance the understanding of the student in that special area. (b) Workplace practicum: the practicum allows students to apply academic coursework and training in a clinical epidemiological setting under the direction of an on-site supervisor. The practicum is arranged on an individual basis, with specific learning objectives by the student, staff member & workplace supervisor
