This course addresses the question: What is urban sustainability and how can it be achieved? The course will examine theories and practices that contribute to social, economic and environmental sustainability outcomes in urban areas. Case studies will explore a range of urban sustainability challenges and responses including those concerning social justice, social ecology, community services, urban infrastructure and energy, the natural environment and climate change, demographic changes, and urban governance.
