Course description

This course provides a clinical experience in community based medicine. Students will attend an urban general practice for 1/2 day per week over 14 weeks with the aim of improving their communication, history taking, examination and clinical reasoning skills. They will observe and interact with patients under the guidance of an experienced general practitioner and develop an understanding of the care of patients within the community. All Year 2 students will be invited to submit an application to participate in the course. Applications will be assessed by the General Practice Clinical Unit (GPCU) staff using predetermined criteria. Student ability to access a practice may be a factor in selection.
