Course description

This course is an intermediate level elective on the structure and rationale of parliamentary democracy and elections. It offers a detailed examination of the regulation of political participants, finances and electoral processes. The course will be taught in a theoretical and contextual manner, with particular attention to values such as political equality and competitiveness. It seeks to develop an understanding of the pivotal but under-appreciated role of legal norms in shaping representative democracy.
