Course description
Students will be introduced to quantitative methods for describing geological problems. Topics being covered will include radioactive decay, ideal gas, isostasy, temperature diffusion, viscous flow, pores media flow and stress and strain in solids. Students will learn how to develop appropriate equations describing the behaviour of the system and study applications to geological scenarios. The course will also give an introduction to basic techniques for fitting observational data to models using a high level programming language.
