Course description

Research Methods in the Digital Age exposes students to, and engage them in, a range of traditional and contemporary research practices in the arts and humanities. Students receive practical training in the use of a range of digital and analogue research tools and materials, gaining skills in the use of archival and published material to support hands-on research practice. A semester-long research project allows students to experience an extended engagement with a subject area that will inspire and challenge them. Students will undertake both independent and group work to develop skills in collaboration, practical analysis, and a robust knowledge base for the creation of a lasting, publically available, digital outcome from their research. Students will gain an understanding of the way `Digital Humanities' is emerging as a powerful force in research, teaching and public engagement in the arts and humanities. Specific modules cater for students undertaking majors in: Communications, Media and Cultural Studies as well as Journalism; Australian Studies, English Literature and Drama. NOTE: Course offering may be cancelled unless a minimum of 20 students enrol
