Course description
This course explores contemporary issues associated with curriculum in schooling and education, with particular focus on three highly relevant perspectives to education today: Indigenous Knowledges, Sustainability, Internationalisation. This course interrogates the nature of current cross-curricular priorities in the Australian Curriculum and how such priorities can support the education of effective, responsible citizens of a globalized world. The course emphasises the importance of understanding concepts and procedures of cross-curriculum design as a precursor to informed debate and effective practice. It considers public debate and policy pertaining to the aims and rationales of the curriculum and curriculum renewal and reform. This course provides key knowledge associated with the current three cross-curricular priorities of the Australian Curriculum, as well as strategies and approaches for embedding cross-curricular priorities meaningfully into the curriculum.
