Course description

In this course, participants develop a foundational knowledge of issues of teacher professionalism and apply this knowledge through an exploration of the role as a professional in reform-orientated schoooling. Theoretical concepts of professionalism will be examined in light of the public perception of teaching, professional teaching standards, and professional mentoring practices. Course participants will develop an authentic project to operationalise and reflect on their role as a professional in a way that extends their involvement as an educator to include professional colleagues, school-based initiatives, educational policy, and/or the local community. This course may not be offered internally if the enrolment is less than 10 students.
