Course description

This course is designed to give pre-service teachers a deep understanding of the mathematics and numeracy needed for quality teaching and learning in primary school contexts. A problem-solving approach is adopted in this course with an emphasis on content and assessment for "real-world" applications of mathematics. Students will develop a critical understanding of the societal and cultural diversity that surrounds and informs mathematics and numeracy teaching. Local and international educational research and policy will be drawn on to inform the development of students' professional knowledge, skills and positive dispositions.
