Course description

Medical Nutrition Therapy 2 & 3 builds on Medical Nutrition Therapy 1, focusing on complex acute care and the management of chronic diseases. It uses a case base approach to explore management options. Students will demonstrate knowledge sufficient to ensure safe practice in this domain. Professional practice is compulsory in dietetics. This course introduces students to the practice of the nutrition management of individuals in acute and ambulatory care settings. Students spend the equivalent of 25 days in placement across the semester, developing competence in the nutrition care process, screening and assessment and the nutrition management of the acute and chronically ill person.
