Course description
This course combines a thematic and historical approach to introduce students to some of the major works of Chinese cinema in their cultural and historical context. Changing Chinese conceptions of identity are explored through cinema from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Chinese diaspora from the beginnings of the film industry to the present.
