Statistics (Major)

For the major in Statistics, students must complete 16 units comprising —
    - 2 units for Level 1 Statistics major compulsory course; and
    - 6 units for Level 2 Statistics major compulsory courses; and
    - 8 units for Level 3 Statistics major compulsory courses; and
Students should complete the 2 units of Level 1 prerequisite courses for the major.

Students who have not successfully completed Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) should complete MATH1050 in their first semester as an elective course.

  • [1] Students without at least a grade of C in Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) are required to take MATH1050 before MATH1051.
  • [2] Students with a keen interest in mathematics and a grade of B or higher in Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) (or a 6 or 7 in MATH1050) should take the sequence MATH1071, MATH1072 and MATH2401. Other students, including those with a grade of C in Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) (or a 4 or 5 in MATH1050), should take the sequence MATH1051, MATH1052 and MATH2400.
