Why study the Doctor of Medical Leadership?

This program provides an opportunity for future medical leaders to undertake a higher degree by research and develop their research and leadership skills. The program is based around the conduct of a medical leadership research project, with the outcomes contributing to the body of clinical practice knowledge and producing direct benefit for clinical practice and / or policy consistent with improved patient outcomes or service improvements. The program includes the requirement for concurrent leadership training, and the option to undertake research coursework. Candidates must have institutional permission to complete this program in conjunction with their clinical training or work.

Entry requirements for International students

Prerequisites

  1. hold an approved degree in medicine; and
  2. have completed 2 years of graduate clinical experience; and
  3. satisfy the associate dean (research) and the dean that the applicant is qualified for admission; and
  4. hold current registration with the Medical Board of Australia; and
  5. hold and maintain a current clinical appointment.

Program requirements for the Doctor of Medical Leadership

To fulfil the requirements of the Doctor of Medical Leadership, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

To complete the program, a candidate must complete 48 units comprising:

      (a) RSCH8000 each research quarter; or
      (b) RSCH8001 each research quarter.
