Prerequisites

To enrol in this program students must: a) Hold an approved degree with a GPA of 4.0 on a 7 point scale where approved degree means a bachelor degree in a cognate area (i.e. business, commerce, environmental/resource management and social sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, education); OR b) Have completed post-secondary study and relevant work experience that the Executive Dean considers to be appropriate for entry into the program.

Why study the Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management?

The Graduate Certificate of Tourism, Hotel & Event Management is a postgraduate level qualification designed to provide students with an alternative pathway to the Master of Tourism, Hotel & Event Management and/or the Master of Tourism, Hotel & Event Management (Advanced). This 6 month program develops knowledge and skills in the areas of Event Management, Hotel Management, and Travel and Tourism Management in students of diverse educational backgrounds. The program allows graduates from related disciplines who have not previously studied tourism, hospitality or event management to change and accelerate their career by developing specialist knowledge in one of these areas complemented by a range of industry related experiences. The program includes a number of foundation and core courses which develop a comprehensive understanding of the tourism, hotel and event industries and the wider context in which they operate. Students will be taught by staff that are internationally recognised as leading experts in their fields, using state-of-the-art facilities.

Program rules for the Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #8 from the MTHEM List comprising -

  • #6 from Part A; and
  • #2 from Part B.
