Students who work with children as part of a required placement course, must have a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) before they begin their placement. Contact the School of Human Movement Studies for information on obtaining a Blue Card.

Why study the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology?

Clinical Exercise Physiology graduates are in high demand in the exercise rehabilitation, health and fitness, and sport science industries; many of the opportunities however are restricted to Exercse Physiologists who are accredited with the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS). This program is designed to permit suitably qualified university graduates to meet the requirements for AAESS accreditation in just two and a half years of intensive study and clinical training. Only AAESS accredited Exercise Physiologists can provide exercise science services covered by Medicare (the national health care scheme), Workcover and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Students are provided with specialised skills and knowledge in exercise prescription and programming for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, injury prevention and exercise interventions. The program aims to provide a comprehensive coverage of key pathologies including metabolic, cardiovascular , neurological, musculoskeletal, and acute conditions. They will appreciate the role of exercise scientists in health promotion, injury prevention and effective treatment planning, implementation and evaluation. This program includes over 500 hours of supervised clinical practice.

What you can do with a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology

Careers

Graduates may choose to work as an accredited exercise physiologist in a hospital, health and fitness centre, sporting academy, sports clinic, rehabilitiation clinic or in your own private practice.
They may specialise in areas including: - Musculoskeletal rehabilitation - Cardiac rehabilitiation - Chronic disease management (eg. diabetes, obesity) - Health promotion and disease prevention - Return to work settings

To complete the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology

To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

#40 under the MClinExP list or other courses approved by the head of school.
