Students who already hold an appropriate tertiary qualification and are interested in becoming qualified to teach in secondary and middle schools should apply for admission into the Graduate Diploma in Education. Why study the Master of Educational Studies (Advanced)?
This program provides students with the opportunity to engage in extended coursework or in an extended research-based supervised project, enabling them to strengthen their expertise in educational practice, policy and/or theory. In particular, it provides students with intensive research training in preparation for further research degrees, such as MPhil or PhD, or for a career involving social research.

Placement courses
Students studying Guidance and Counselling will be required to complete practicum courses that involve approximately 200 contact hours. Students studying Learning Support will be required to complete practicum courses that involve approximately 20 contact hours.

To undertake a placement in a Queensland school, you are required to possess a Blue Card and be registered as a teacher in Queensland. Students who are not qualified teachers can also enrol in the program however they will need to make alternative arrangements for practicum placements in private organisations.

To complete the Master of Educational Studies (Advanced)
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Educational Studies (Advanced), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
Students are required to complete #24 from the course list. Students wishing to declare a field of study must complete #8 from that field.
