Entry requirements

Prerequisites

A student must hold an approved degree equivalent to a 4-year degree in a relevant area.

Additional application information

Some courses are also offered in external mode, allowing students to complete the programs in external mode. Courses offered in the external mode may have residential school requirements. It is an expectation that students will have private access to a computer and the internet.

An internal student attends lectures, tutorials and practicals on campus. An external student receives instruction by mail, or via the internet.

Why study the Master of Natural Resource Studies?

Natural resource studies addresses issues in sustainable management and use of natural resources. The program is broadly focussed, allowing students to direct their study towards specific environments, natural resources or industries. Depending on the background and interests of students, courses and projects can reflect a science, social science or management perspective. Graduates have the ability to locate, interpret, integrate and apply knowledge from different disciplinary fields. The program trains students to define, analyse and address issues; develop solutions or approaches; and present appropriate reports.

Programs in natural resource studies are designed for people wishing to update skills or change into careers in areas such as natural resource management, environmental planning and assessment, mining rehabilitation, and wildlife management.

To complete the Master of Natural Resource Studies

To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Natural Resource Studies, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

#16 from the MNatResSt list comprising #8 from part A including a graduate research project; and the remainder from a combination of courses from part A or part B or both.
