BDSc (Hons I or IIA) or equivalent and minimum two years of graduate clinical experience. Overseas trained applicants may be required to undertake a theory & clinical skills assessment. Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.

Due to limited places, offers will only be made after the closing date of April 30. Up to two domestic students and two international students may be accepted in each discipline.
This program has an extended academic year consisting of 34 teaching weeks and commences in mid-January each year.
Dental Board of Australia policy prevents dentists carrying blood-borne viruses from undertaking invasive procedures, the definition of which includes most aspects of clinical dentistry. Students must provide current status information in relation to blood-borne transmissible viruses (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV) and be registered with the Dental Board of Australia for the duration of the program. TB screening is also required in accordance with Queensland Health recommendations.
Students must complete a First Aid Certificate prior to their studies and a CPR competency recertification course prior to years 2 and 3 of the program.
Overseas trained applicants who are short-listed for selection may be required to undertake a theory and clinical skills assessment (contact School of Dentistry for further information).
This program may have inherent requirements that need to be met prior to undertaking placement.

Students undertake a plan of study related to their chosen specialty or field under the guidance of a supervisor which includes a component in basic and clinical sciences, a major clinical component in the nominated specialty, and a research project and report.

Outplacement to major hospitals such as the Royal Brisbane and Royal Children's Hospitals, Brisbane Private Hospital, Queensland Health facilities and external health care establishments in Brisbane may occur as part of the discipline training.

Additional application requirements
Overseas trained applicants who are short-listed for selection may be required to undertake a theory and clinical skills assessment at the Dental School. Such applicants will be responsible for all travel and accommodation costs incurred in undertaking the assessment. An exam fee of A$3,500 will be charged for the clinical assessment. Successful applicants will have the fee deducted from their tuition fees.

- Dental Board registration (approx total $2,640)
- Senior First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approx $155)
- Laptop computer ($1,500-$2,000).

To complete the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry
To fulfil the requirements of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #48 comprising -
- common core courses in basic and clinical sciences;
- clinical courses within a field of dental science selected by the student and approved by the Executive Dean; and
- a research project and report.
