Entry requirements

Prerequisites

An approved honours or masters degree in medicine and/or surgery. The applicant must be an accredited trainee for the Diploma of Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Why study the Doctor of Clinical Surgery?

PLEASE NOTE: NO NEW ENROLMENTS BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2009. The program is designed to be undertaken during or following acquisition of the first part of the FRACS examination, during the period of training for the second part in the various surgical sub-specialties or subsequent to receipt of the FRACS diploma. It includes a research project and a coursework component. The completion of the FRACS Diploma is also required.

The aim of this program is to enhance the educational role of and surgical research fostered by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons through a partnership with the University. It will train surgeons in a broader range of clinical and laboratory based research skills.

To complete the Doctor of Clinical Surgery

To fulfil the requirements of the Doctor of Clinical Surgery, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #32 from the DClinSurg List and complete the FRACS Diploma.
