a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in physiotherapy, plus 2 years full-time equivalent, relevant professional experience and evidence of continuing professional education, or</li><li>equivalent qualifications and experience.</li></ul><p>You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.<br>Entry is competitive based on GPA. Entry is competitive with a limited intake capacity.<p>Please see 'Additional application information' below for further details on entry requirements.

Why study the Master of Physiotherapy?

Choose the Master of Physiotherapy if you are a physiotherapist wanting to gain advanced skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy or sports physiotherapy. The first stage of the program can be completed online for clinical physiotherapists working in various fields of special interest. You will gain in depth knowledge and advanced clinical skills, as well as broaden your clinical skills across the field of practice and the ability to critically evaluate and contribute to research in your preferred area of clinical specialty. You can also obtain a second masters degree in the alternate area (either musculoskeletal or sports physiotherapy) through an additional semester of full-time coursework.

What you can study

In the first year of the program you will gain a sound understanding of key concepts underpinning therapeutic exercise as well as advancing your clinical theoretical/practical skills within the fields of biological/medical sciences and evidence based practice framework, as well as pain, disability and the psychosocial model as it applies to sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

The cornerstone of our programs are the clinical placements where you will practise under the supervision of dedicated specialist clinical educators. In order to complete the clinical placements, students are required to hold limited registration or full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. International student can apply for limited registration to enable them to undertake their studies.Prior to applying, applicants should ensure they will be able to meet placement requirements outlined on this website.

  • Annual CPR re-certification (approximately $80 per year)
  • First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approximately $130 renewed every 3 years)
  • Costs for vaccinations and serology are the responsibility of the student and will vary based on individual and program requirements.

What you can do with a Master of Physiotherapy

Careers

As a graduate, students will fulfil requirements for titled membership of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia or Sports Physiotherapy Australia within the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Graduates will also be eligible to pursue the final stage training for clinical specialisation within the Australian College of Physiotherapists.

To complete the Master of Physiotherapy

To graduate with a Master of Physiotherapy a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
