Why study the Master of Laws(Advanced)?
The Master of Laws (LLM) and Master of Laws (Advanced) (LLM(Adv)) are designed to enhance the theoretical and practical expertise of students and provide them with a professional edge. Students will improve their independent and critical thinking and research skills. The courses offered are predominantly driven by the needs of contemporary legal practice. They include courses in highly specialized areas as well as more general areas where the principles underpinning that area are complex and require a depth of understanding.

International students are strongly encouraged to attend an optional program that begins in Orientation Week prior to the commencement of semester. The program is conducted jointly by staff of the Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE) and the Law School. International students are given a brief overview of the Australian legal framework and the common law system. The Program also provides an opportunity for new students to meet each other socially.

Program rules for the Master of Laws(Advanced)
To complete the Master of Laws(Advanced)
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Laws(Advanced), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #24 from the LLM List of which only #4 may be from Part B. Students considering future enrolment in the PhD program are advised to complete at least #6 in research from the following courses as part of the #24 from the LLM list - LAWS7825, LAWS7826, LAWS7904, LAWS7944, LAWS7701, LAWS7706, LAWS7707. Refer to the LLM(Adv) rules for further information.
