Applicants must be eligible for provisional or if applicable, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Why study the Master of Clinical Psychology?
Clinical psychologists promote optimal levels of psychological functioning to decrease levels of psychological distress. They have expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a broad range of emotional and behavioural problems including anxiety, depression, stress, substance addiction and abuse, adjustment to physical illness, relationship difficulties and learning disabilities.
This program provides knowledge and professional skills in the area of clinical psychology through a combination of coursework, supervised practice, and research.
What you can study
Students will gain a foundation in the scientific bases and practice of clinical psychology and receive training in clinical practice which employs evidence-based best practice model.

Placement courses
Students will undertake 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings that includes not-for-profit organisations, community services, private practices and UQ's internal clinics. During their placements, students will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework and research to practice and develop their clinical skills in real life settings.

Students may be required to undertake clinical placements outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area and students are required to fund their travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.

Additional application requirements
This program has limited intake capacity.
Applicants must submit the Psychology Additional Information form, academic transcripts, CV and nominate two referees^. Shortlisted candidates are required to undertake an interview. Offers will be made on the basis of academic achievement, references and interview.
^ References must be: your honours supervisor, another academic staff member and a third person who knows you well. Referees cannot be provided by a near relative or close associate. Examples of near relatives are partner, child, sibling and parents. Examples of close associates are close friends, neighbours and children of colleagues.
All successful applicants are required to apply for and gain provisional registration or if applicable, full registration, with the Psychology Board of Australia, which includes the Board's English Language Proficiency requirements. Students must have registration prior to commencing their study and must be maintained for the duration of the program.

Careers
As a clinical psychologist, you will work in a range of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, aged care and private practice, as well as schools, courts, community health services, prisons and the defence forces.

To complete the Master of Clinical Psychology
To graduate with a Master of Clinical Psychology a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
