Entry requirements

Prerequisites

Bachelors degree in engineering or related field. Applications on the basis of post-secondary study and two years work experience in a related field will be individually assessed.

Additional application information

  • Some courses may incur additional costs (e.g. field trips).
  • Studies are usually on a semester basis. In some cases courses may be presented in a modular short-course format, or through flexible delivery.
  • Students who successfully complete the Masters program may progress to research higher degrees, e.g. Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Why study the Graduate Certificate in Engineering?

The Graduate Certificate in Engineering (ME) degree is a 1 semester program offered by the Schools of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Mining Engineering, and Information Technology & Electrical Engineering. Five specialisations are available. Students in this program are taught by staff who are internationally recognised as leading experts in their fields, using state-of-the-art facilities.

What you can do with a Graduate Certificate in Engineering

Careers

Graduate Certificate in Engineering Science graduates have acquired experience that enables them to cross disciplinary boundaries, and are equipped to take on advanced engineering work. They will have a combination of business, problem solving and interpersonal skills; as well as technical engineering experience that will enable them to understand markets and develop relationships of trust with customers, suppliers, business partners, and to work within teams.

Program rules for the Graduate Certificate in Engineering

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Engineering

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Engineering, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #8 from the Master of Engineering Science List or other courses in related fields of study approved by the Executive Dean. Consult the Head of School prior to enrolment. Refer to the MEngSc program list and the GCEngSc rules for further information.
