Why study the Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours)?
The Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) degree will prepare you for an exciting career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (including Accredited Exercise Scientist). You will learn in state-of-the-art exercise science and physiology facilities including specialised biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, and strength and conditioning laboratories.
Accredited Exercise Physiologists are recognised allied health professionals who design and deliver exercise interventions for the prevention and management of a range of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, metabolic, neurologic, cancer and mental health conditions. They can also provide advanced health and physical activity education, advice and support to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Medicare and many private health insurers recognise and cover services supplied by accredited exercise physiologists.
What you can study
During this program you will learn how to deliver exercise-based lifestyle and behavioural programs for people at high-risk of developing, or with existing, chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries such as musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression. You will be involved in a variety of ongoing practicum experiences with 'apparently healthy' clientele and high-risk, 'chronic and complex medical condition' clientele.

Placement courses
You will undertake more than 550 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings that includes hospitals, a variety of health care organisations and fitness facilities (including sporting teams). During your placements, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework to practice and develop your clinical skills in real life setting.
From year two, a variety of sessional practical experiences are undertaken before commencing block placements in years three and four.
Please note, some placement providers require students to provide a criminal history check and the students allocated to these placement providers will be required to supply this.
Clinical placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area where you will required to fund your travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.

- Senior First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approximately $155 renewed every 3 years)

Careers
Accredited Exercise Physiologists and Accredited Exercise Scientists have skills that can be applied to a variety of clinical and exercise and sport science professions.
They may work in a variety of settings including private practices, home health services, hospitals or clinical services, research centres, or community health and fitness centres.
Careers include accredited exercise physiologist, accredited exercise scientist, biomechanists, cardiac scientist, respiratory technician, strength and conditioning specialists, rehabilitation professionals, health promotion officers, corporate health and fitness advisors, health educators, community recreation officers or exercise science researchers.
