Why study the Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture?
Sustainable food production has never been more important - with the world population ever increasing, the environmental pressures on our planet have never been greater. The Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture provides you with the skills and knowledge to help industry tackle some of the big problems facing our planet.
This program introduces you to the scientific and practical aspects of the sustainable agriculture industry. You will study the scientific and managerial principles required to help commercial farmers sustainably increase their output of food and fibre to feed and clothe the world with the least environmental and social impact.
What you can study
The Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture will provide students with a focused and industry relevant qualification in sustainable agriculture, with emphasis on the animal (livestock and poultry) and plant (agronomy and horticulture) industries.
The horticulture major focuses on small crop production to meet industry expectations for the expanding horticultural industry with a greater emphasis on soil science, plant nutrition and crop protection. The livestock and poultry, and the agronomy majors have similarly been re-focused to build on their strengths, and the changing directions of their industries.
Students will have the opportunity to draw upon courses across majors to complement their learning and to take advantage of the crossover which is now occurring between animal production systems and cropping systems.
