- The School of Veterinary Science has relocated to the Gatton Campus, with classes commencing at the beginning of the 2010 academic year.
- Students must pass all courses listed for any given semester to be able to progress to the next semester.
- Students who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science program and withdraw from the program having completed the requirements of the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology degree, may be awarded that degree.
- It is an expectation that students will have private access to a computer and the internet. It is recommended that students consider a laptop if purchasing a new computer.

Why study the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)?
Veterinary science is the application of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic principles to companion, domestic, exotic, wildlife, and production animals. Veterinary science is vital to the study and protection of animal production practices, herd health and monitoring spread of widespread disease. It requires the acquisition and application of scientific knowledge in multiple disciplines and uses technical skills towards disease prevention in both domestic and wild animals.
Human health is protected by veterinary science working closely with many medical professionals by the careful monitoring of livestock health as well as its unique training in epidemiology and emerging zoonotic diseases worldwide.
Veterinarians assist in ensuring the quality, quantity, and security of food supplies by working to maintain the health of livestock. Veterinary scientists are very important in chemical, biological, and pharmacological research.

Placement courses
- Students are required to undertake eight (8) weeks of vacation work (in their own time) by the end of their third year of study
- Final year students undertake three (3) weeks of specialist practice

What you can do with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)
Careers
Graduates from the Bachelor of Veterinary Science are employed as Veterinary Professionals in a number of areas including (but not limited to): Urban and rural private practitioners in Australia and abroad; Consultants on aspects of animal production and disease control; Consultants with federal and state governments dealing with the control of animal disease and the efficiency of animal production; Advisors to industry (especially pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies) and Educators and/or researchers with universities and governments.
In 2012, the School of Veterinary Science achieved accreditation with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) for the maximum term of seven years. The AVMA accreditation is recognised internationally as the benchmark for quality in veterinary education.
With the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) accreditation, graduates can apply to practice in Australia, the UK, North America, New Zealand, Hong Kong and most of south-east Asia.
As a graduate of an AVMA accredited school, students are now eligible to sit the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE), undertaken by American students.

To complete the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #80 from the BVSc(Hons) List.
Students must complete additional requirements (including vacation practical work) set by the head of School.
