Why study the Bachelors of Science/Laws (Honours)?

Bachelor of Science students are able to make flexible choices from a broad based set of courses in their first year which lay the foundation for access to a specialised major by their third year. The Bachelor of Law degree includes a core of prescribed courses and a range of electives. Compulsory areas include contracts, torts, criminal law, equity and property.

Program rules for the Bachelors of Science/Laws (Honours)

To complete the Bachelors of Science/Laws (Honours)

To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelors of Science/Laws (Honours), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #88 comprising -

  • #56 from the LLB list including -
    1. (i) #38 of compulsory courses from Part A; and
      (ii) #18 of elective courses from Parts B and/or C; and
  • #32 from Part A and B of the BSc list including -
    1. (i) #6 from Part A; and
      (ii) #14 from Part B; and
      (iii) #12 from Part A or B not included in (i) or (ii) above.
      Of the #32 from the BSc List #12 must comprise of late year courses (level 3 or higher).
      In the BSc, students must undertake an approved major, extended major, or a dual major.


    Students who wish to satisfy the academic requirements for admission to the legal profession in Queensland MUST include LAWS5215, LAWS5216 and LAWS5217 as part of the #16 of elective courses for the LLB. Refer to BSc/LLB (Hons) rules for further information.
