Why study the Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science?

What you can study
The curriculum is based on sound foundations in science, with the first year predominately science courses, but including an introduction to the discipline of occupational health and safety. The subsequent three years of the program focus on specific aspects of occupational health and safety. The final semester of the program is a series of industry placements - either with a single industry partner or up to four separate industry partners.

What you can do with a Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science
Careers
Occupational health and safety professionals work to enhance the safety and health of all workers. Occupational health and safety professionals work anywhere there is a workplace, so your future place of work could be as diverse as a remote mine site, a large corporate office, a laboratory or a movie set; within Australia or internationally. On a day-to-day basis OHS professionals are involved in: monitoring and modifying the work environment; delivering education programs, including wellness programs; analysing workplace data; devising, evaluating and implementing OHS management systems; undertaking OHS auditing and inspections; completing accident investigation; ensuring compliance with legislation.
Occupational health and safety graduates enjoy a well paid and diverse career with an ability to work anywhere, including: remote, rural or urban regions; nationally or internationally; across all industries (including: mining, agricultural, retail, hospitality, construction, transport, manufacturing, health care); in government, private sector or consultancy, and enjoy flexible working conditions (including options for part-time work). Graduates from the BOHSSc are eligible to become members of the following professional associations: Safety Institute of Australia; Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia; Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists.
Program rules for the Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science
To complete the Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #64 from Part A of the BOccHlth&SafeSc List. For honours, a student is required to obtain #64 taking a program modified as listed in Part B of the BOccHlth&SafeSc List (yet to be approved). Refer to BOccHlth&SafeSc rules for further information.
