Why study the Bachelors of Agribusiness/Applied Science?

The BAgribus has been redeveloped for 2015 to ensure students have access to the best courses and facilities at UQ. Students will complete courses at both the St Lucia (Brisbane) and Gatton campuses. Courses at St Lucia will be taught by the UQ Business School and courses at Gatton will be taught by the School of Agriculture and Food Science. Both of these Schools are ranked number one in Australia.

Agribusiness is a major part of the Australian economy, for its production value and employment. You will study the global business challenges of food and fibre industries in combination with technology and management of animal science, food science & nutrition, or plant studies, depending on your Applied Science major.

What you can study

Your choice of major in the BAppSc will determine the courses you are required to complete, and the campuses on which they are offered. The majority of courses are based at Gatton with some courses only offered at St Lucia.

Agronomy - All courses in third semester at St Lucia; a mix of St Lucia and Gatton courses in the fifth semester, all other semesters at Gatton.

Animal Production, Equine Management & Horticulture-a mix of St Lucia and Gatton courses in second semester; complete all St Lucia courses in the third semester; all other semesters at Gatton.

Program rules for the Bachelors of Agribusiness/Applied Science

To complete the Bachelors of Agribusiness/Applied Science

To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelors of Agribusiness/Applied Science, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain #64 comprising:
(a) #32 from Part A of the BAgribus list; and
(b) #32 from the BAppSc list, including;

  • #16 core courses listed in Part A
