Why study Information Environments?

The Information Environments major focuses on the design and construction of technologies and systems that deliver the digital infrastructure and applications that society increasingly depends upon for commerce, entertainment and civic and community engagement. Information environments allow people in different locations and at different times to communicate and share information on interconnected systems and devices. At its core, this involves the human-centred understanding of how to design technology that is sensitive to the context it is used, with code and data as the working materials that designers build with.
